Pro Bono Work

Last fall a new rule adopted by the New York Court of Appeals went into effect requiring everyone seeking admission to the State Bar of New York to complete fifty (50) hours of Pro Bono work.

What is Pro Bono Service? In New York, the new rule broadly defines Pro Bono Service to include work performed for people of limited means, not for profit organizations, and other individuals or groups seeking to promote access to justice.

Because people of limited means have access to the Legal Justice System through the Public Defenders Office or The Legal Aide Society, we at Davis and Davis have in the past offered Pro Bono Services to not- for- profit organizations and groups seeking to promote access to justice. Pro Bono legal services are really, legal services provided for the good of the community in general. So if your not- for- profit organization is involved in activities that promote the general good and you need legal assistant, please contact us and we may be able to provide Pro Bono Legal Services. We know that we are all in this together, and together we can make our communities better and stronger!
