There have been ongoing investigations after several people have been diagnosed with illness due to vaping. Pennsylvania is not taking this lightly, especially after earlier this month our first death was confirmed.
Dr. Rachel Levine who is the Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania, confirmed the death happened in late September. It has also been reported that there have been 12 probable cases due to vaping, and 63 other cases dealing with severe lung injuries.
“The lung injury cases are very serious, life threatening and even fatal,” Dr. Levine said. Several doctors have added that the lung injuries are so severe they look like chemical burns.
It’s not certain what exactly is causing the injuries, but Levine has said that the cases are mostly associated with illegally sold vape pens, which usually contain THC. She also has said that the majority of those who are being treated are in their late teens and early twenties.
US Center Of Control And Disease Prevention has recorded over 11,000 injuries in relation to e-cigarette use, along with 18 deaths across 15 states. It’s also been reported that most people who are being treated have used THC in the past.
